“This coffee is just as hot as the coffee before it.”  Courtney shrugged her shoulders and put her forehead on her desk.  Courtney thought, “During my whole life I want to get shot at.  I want to get shot at but not actually get shot.  I think this is understandable.”

Outside, there were kinds of grass growing.  Courtney lifted her head from her desk and looked outside.  Outside, she thought.  She looked at the outside and then she looked at her knee.  My knee, she thought.

Courtney decided to look at the Wikipedia entry for grass, if only because grass was one of the simplest things, she thought.  Courtney read about grass and then she decided to read about lawns.  Lawns, she thought.

Hank worked at a video game store.  During this time, he sold video games to people.  A lot of the time he would sell these video games used, and sometimes he would ask people about video games.  One should not expect Hank to work anywhere else, even though it would seem he is better suited for working somewhere else.  Hank worked with people who appeared to be okay with selling video games to people.  They were shorter, had thinning facial hair, and liked to talk about video games to themselves.  Hank wore glasses and he had large shoulders.  His glasses had thick lenses and they made his eyes look larger.  His glasses made his eyes look like they were closer to whoever they were looking at.  Hank sold video games to me.  I remember that his name was Hank because I was the top reader in elementary school and I read a lot of the Hank the Cowdog books.  Video Game Hank also had a not-video-game-selling voice.  Hank sounded like a cowboy who would later become an opera singer.  Hank would be better off selling jeans or cigarettes.  Hank would have a better life selling those things but then you have to consider his eyes.  Large eyes in front of you saying, “Here is your copy of Sunset Riders, here is your pack of cigarettes.”

We’re having a Skeletor Basement party, in my basement.  If you’d like to attend this party, please let me know.  We’re going to do our best to find out how many people want to be at this party.  All of your favorite Skeletor based refreshments will be available.

Two days ago there were some bright lights in the sky, but nobody saw them.  I saw the two bright lights, but I was not sure if they were lights or not.  The news made a report on something that was not concerned with the two bright lights in the sky.  I, myself, had a few ideas about what the two bright lights in the sky were:

  • lots of tornadoes, in the distance, grouped into two separate clusters
  • the eyes of a monster
  • the eyes of a good creature
  • the planets exploding and certain points in time

I told my best friend about the two bright lights I saw in the sky. She said that they were good ideas, but that they needed some development.  I questioned her motives.  The next day, I saw that there was a news report about one bright light in the sky.  I said to myself, “Why aren’t there more bright lights in the sky?  Why don’t people know about more than one bright light in the sky?”

Everyone started to wear The Bright Light In The Sky T-shirts.

Condoleezza Rice stepped outside for two seconds.  She lifted her chin to the air at a twenty degree angle up from her normal ninety degree angle in which she normally holds her chin.  She maintains correct posture throughout her life, except when she is very, very tired.  In this instance, she lifted her chin twenty degrees up from ninety degrees, so now her chin was lifted one hundred and ten degrees.  She caught scent of something in the air.  During these two seconds, she was able to process “I am slowly dying, there is a world here, and on my fingertips, I believe, there are some small insects fighting.” After these two seconds of lifting her chin and processing, Condoleezza Rice stepped back inside for the remainder of the day.  She was tired of having to lift her chin, tired of processing.  She went back inside to look out of her window, slow to think, slow to process, and slow to lift her chin back to life.  Currently, she lives at home with her two husbands and dogs, in which she is working on her latest novel, I Am Going To Fall Out Of This Window Some Day.
