Muses Don’t Have Zip Codes

Talia Zajac

Muses don’t have zip codes,
and with all the traveling that they do,
you could hardly say that they have
a permanent mailing address, but
if you want to catch them
on the odd occasion that they’re home
you can write to their p.o. box
(they prefer classical Greek
or, if you must write in Latin,
please use dactylic hexameter),
at Mount Parnassus—lovely place,
green hills and great golfing range—
c/o Apollo (who plays the lyre there
on the weekends, when he takes
a break from driving the Sun),
and let them know that
I’ve found their rival in you.
